Gov. Patrick says he's not going anywhere. Really?
Despite his close friendship with Sen. Barack Obama, Gov. Deval Patrick today insisted he would not accept a position in an Obama administration if the Democrat wins tonight.“I’m not going anywhere,” Patrick said. “I’m very excited about remaining as governor in Massachusetts. . .I have no intentions or interest, frankly, in going to Washington. I have the job I’ve always wanted, and on my hardest days it’s still the job I’ve always wanted.”
Patrick made his remarks at an Obama phone bank in Boston, where he stopped by to thank volunteers for their efforts to get out the vote before flying to his and Obama’s hometown of Chicago to go back to his old neighborhood and sit on the door stoop “to be present when history is made, I hope.”
“None of us is taking anything for granted,” the governor said. “We know the campaigns have done everything they can do. It’s up to the voters now.”
