Howie Carr lays the smack down on Gov. Patrick.
Here are a few of the sure signs a politician has hit a rough patch:* National media begin laughing at you.
* Your poll numbers start to droop.
* Hacks begin talking about how they’re just going to wait you out.Gov. Deval Patrick has hit the jackpot. He’s got all of the above.
First look at the poll numbers. According to a new survey this week, Deval’s unfavorability rating is up to 45 percent, compared with 47 percent favorable. Apparently people, especially women, have realized that Together We Can is really Together We Con.
Hillary’s hens are not happy with Deval, of course. But other factors may also be in play. A lot of women pay the family bills. From Deval they were expecting, oh I don’t know, property tax relief maybe. Thirteen months into Deval’s term, unless you’re a hardcore moonbat, it’s the morning after. Which was why he couldn’t deliver Massachusetts to his dear pal, Barack Obama.
Then there’s the national media parachuting in for the traditional hit piece. The current issue of the Weekly Standard has a story headlined “Coupe Deval” - wherever did they come up with that cute turn of phrase?
The point of the story will likewise be familiar, namely that Deval doesn’t have a clue. But the best part is when the writer compares Barack and Deval:
“Where Patrick is short and doughy, Obama is tall and taut. While Patrick often sounds as if he just took a swig of helium, Obama speaks in a soothing baritone. Obama also appears to be much sharper and savvier than Patrick.”
Ouch. To quote the old Eagles song: “They will never forget you ’til somebody new comes along.”
Could John McCain actually beat Deval's friend in Massachusetts this November? What a shock that would be. (Or would it really be a shock?)
