Like most liberals, Deval loves people as a class- one on one, not so much. Historically, populist politicians don't get the opportunity to be a chief executive in their first run for office. They have to learn in the trenches. In the WaPo article, he refers to "hazing" by the establishment. As a former member of the Clinton Administration, he should know that he IS the establishment. The fact is, he has taken advantage of those who identify with his life experience to forge a lucrative career in "negotiating" with major corporations over employment practices. Now that he has to face a personal challenge similar to those faced daily by the rest of us, without the ability to fall back on guilty mentors or government crutches, life is tougher. Welcome to our world, Governor.
