Deval's Plan: "Pull Your Pants Up" To Fight Crime

Another brilliant idea from Deval:

Gov. Deval Patrick, who often speaks of having been disciplined as a child as much by his neighbors as his own relatives, urged Boston-area parents to get similarly involved in response to a wave of violence that has plagued the state's capital city.

There have been 13 murders in Boston this year, up from 10 the same time last year. Over the weekend, a 22-year-old New York woman was shot and killed after attending a party on crime-plagued Geneva Avenue in Dorchester.

"I realize it's a different time; it's not the '50s any more," the governor said Wednesday in response to a question after addressing the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties. "But every once in a while, when that adult says, 'You know what? You're not supposed to come to work with your pants down there,' ... even when that kid rolls their eyes, they hear you. It gets through."

That's the key to solving the crime problem in Boston... Adults, if you see a kid with his pants hanging low, tell him to pull those pants up. You might just stop that kid from shooting someone.

Yet another magnificent quote by Deval. Oh no, my pants are low.....urge to kill....rising. Give me a break. Yea, telling gangbangers to pull their pants up, that's how to solve crime. Good job Deval.

I think this was Deval's attempt to emulate Bill Cosby's very welcomed and frank comments from years back -- but as usual, he's watered down the message and bungled the delivery.

Sounds like he discriminating aginst youths that prefer to dress in a rap style. Doesn't he respect diversity? How dare he attempt to impose his narrow fashion sense on others!

Hmm. I thought that restoring community standards was a conservative value.

What's your opinion on the larger issue here-- should money go to the Charles Shannon Initiative for anti-gang programs or to the hiring of 250 police officers across the state?

i dont really care what anyone says about my pants, but out of respect for adult if im asked to pull my pants up i will. kids that have there pants down doesnt mean that they have a gun on them. i dont like the fact that adults Stereotype teens by the way the dress. now do you all think that a kid that walks with his pants down would have came on the internet an instead of out in the street shooting at someone there inside posting comments on how people look at use
