Amy Gorin Resigns As Chief of Staff For Mrs. Patrick

Amy Gorin (otherwise known as "Amy G. from Wellesley") has now resigned as Diane Patrick's chief-of-staff.

Just days after telling the press he was happy with his staff, Gov. Deval Patrick said today he’s adding two new aides to his team while the $72,000-a-year assistant for the governor’s wife has resigned.

Amy Gorin, hired as Diane Patrick’s chief-of-staff, said today she is leaving the post.

“At this time, I want to be as helpful as I can be Diane as a friend and I feel that I can best accomplish that outside of the Executive Office,” she said in a statement.

The governor said Gorin will “continue to be a valued advisor and friend.”

The governor had come under criticism for hiring Gorin to the taxpayer-funded job.

We originally reported on the $72,000/year quid pro quo last month. While it's good they finally realized what a horrible mistake it was, it should not have taken them this long to get good ol' "Amy G. from Wellesley" out.

This is good day for talk radio listeners and for bloggers and blog readers who wouldn't stand for $72,000/year quid pro quo for Deval Patrick's former campaign co-chair. And of course, it's a victory for the taxpayers of Massachusetts.

UPDATE: Official press release.

Now, if only Jacob Melniki would tell us his real name and then resign as a Coup Deval donor, press person and political apologist...

I could be wrong though, Jacob may simply be a valued advisor and friend....

I wonder what the Dem's are secretly saying to one another about the first 10 weeks. Publicly they all seem to make excuses.

By the way, there's a "Don't blame me, I voted for Muffy" bumper sticker for sale on eBay.
