I'm guessing that you missed the study conducted by The Boston Foundation.

According to the study, if Boston does not assume more legal power, it will become marginalized. It sounds like a good idea to me.
What a great way for the Rodney Allen Ripney of Massachusetts politics to sleaze away from his deficit problem. It won't be his problem if cities and town overtax. Gee i wonder if that will cut my outrageous property taxes? Cut state aid to cities and towns because 'they depend on it too much'. I guess this means my town can run its own lottery and screw the state lottery. Towns get back because citizens put in. But now when this lunatic initiative fails and towns come hat in hand to the state house and GOD FORBID redistricting happens because towns tax residents back to ste stone age and not the state, where will the emporor be then? My right hand to God, my legislators better not vote for this
