"I Really Screwed Up"

Governor Deval Patrick is admitting he "really screwed up"...

Gov. Deval Patrick today admitted mistakes in judgment for using a sleek Cadillac and spending more than $27,000 of taxpayer money to outfit his State House office.

“Oh yeah, I really screwed up,” Patrick said during an impromptu press conference with reporters. Patrick has agreed to personally pay for the furniture and for half the $1,166 monthly payment for the Cadillac, which is more luxurious than cars used by previous governors.

But how could an admission like this be complete without a non-apology?

However, Patrick also remained defiant in the face of intense media scrutiny, telling reporters that what he is truly sorry for is that he gave them fodder to draw attention away from news that he sees as more relevant.

“I am so sorry that we have all spent the kind of time we have on what we have spent time on, and I’m sorry to have been responsible for that,” Patrick said.

Not "I'm sorry that was trying to get away with spending your hard earned money," or "I'm sorry I'm a two-faced 'do-as-I-say, not-as-I-do' governor"--no, he's sorry that we found out about it and it caused a media reaction, that's all.

UPDATE: Itemization of furnishings Deval wanted us to pay for...

My first reaction to Deval's non-apology was Bill Clinton saying to get over Monica because he has the "people's business to do".

Did anyone else notice, that DTS man, during the sound bite?
Just before he was about to say or at least, should have said "Here comes the Govenor"===if you look at his mouth, and he caught himself mid-word, he was about to say a "K", as in King!
Here comes the King!-----thats what he thought and almost, almost said!
Wake up you loonie liberal moonbats!
Flip Wilson, is not what you think he is!

as far as the 72,000 secretary post.
Back in the early 80's, when I was in the modeling industry, I attended many many parties, and was a big part of the social scene.
I distinctly remember Miss Kitty --had a shill that held her wine or other drink glass--so she would never be photographed with one in her hand! It struck me as funny, and unusual at the time. I am sure, he did not get paid that much, but, remember, the pre Duke was all about "good jobs at good wages" LOL
This Amy Gorin was a campaign manager, so this is a fluff job, as a way of saying thankyou
