Expose The Hypocrisy

February 16, 2007
"Got Me A Cadillac...Got Me A Cadillac Car..."

"...Got me a Cadillac...Look at me, baby, I'm a star!"

Already facing heat for flying to events in a state police helicopter, Gov. Deval Patrick is now cruising in a pricey, tricked-out Cadillac DeVille at taxpayer expense. The governor’s new luxury Cadillac DTS sedan is a lease that puts a $1,166-a-month strain on the state budget and replaces the much more modest Crown Victoria that former Gov. Mitt Romney was driven around in.

UPDATE: More dilemmas for Deval. Plus, more from Squaring the Boston Globe, Scott Allen Miller and Mass. GOP News.

SECOND UPDATE: Patrick buddy Tom Finneran criticized from the left. Plus, more from the Globe.

YES! It's a trade off.....he gets to keep the Caddy, but only if we no longer have to pay for emissions testing!

and its not a Pink Cadillac! I'm quite surprised, as I would have thought he'd go all out and get the Escalade. (that is a true pimp mobile)
I love Bigbish's nicknames, so I guess we can now add "Snoop Deval", to the reportoire!
And, did you hear his rational? "the current car has over 80,000 miles, and they said it was time for new"
Correct me if I am wrong, but since when does a car having that much mileage, qualify for getting new? In this state, almost everyone owns a car with that much or more mileage, because we can't AFFORD to buy new---for the high price, for the high sales tax, AND the high excise tax!! 1200 a month for a pimp mobile----how many cops could that put on the street, Snoop Deval?

Oh my head. The Rodney Allen Ripney of Massachusetts politics is playing 'Pimp My Ride ' now? Seriously, how much longer can he keep giving the state the collective finger before someone does something about it? I called my democratic seanator and got the brush off (Theresa Murray- Union loving sweetie she is). Who watches the watcher for gods sake? Who approves stuff like this?

When our governor puts on the pimp hat, the picture will be complete. If he wants a Cadillac, let him buy one with his own money, not mine. I can't afford to buy a new Ford, let alone a new caddie. He makes me want to puke. I'm so proud to live in the People's Republic of Massachusetts. Do as I say, not as I do, right Snoop Du?

Sounds like Kevin Sowyrda was just taking the opportunity to hetero-bash WRKO in addition to hating the felon for nothing more than the felon's views of marriage or "what people do in their bedrooms".

We ALL have our opinions and NONE should be silenced, even the brave statements of Tim Hardaway!

There is nothing "right-wing" about the felon, or his views on WRKO, and attempting to tie him to the right because of his opinions on homosexuals is disingenuous at best. Carrying the Rush Limbaugh show by WRKO by no means equals endorsement of the show/host, as ANYONE who is conservative in Boston can see what is going on at WRKO and its sharp left-hand turn. Fear not Kevin, Rush and Howie will be silenced as soon as the cabal at RKO can make it happen, but the people will STLL DEMAND to VOTE on the ISSUE you are pushing on the rest of us.

Bashing is bad all around, heterosexual or homosexual. Disagreeing with your agenda does not make one a basher nor should they be silenced because they disagree with you and your agenda.

At least we do agree that Tommy Taxes is a joke but Boston isn't laughing...

Um, the short answer is none. Its only $14K a year, do you know a cop that will work for that?

Long answer, its a flawed question. The old car was costing them something. So it's not the whole $1,200 a month that is due to Deval upgrading from a Crown Vic to a Caddy. Maybe something like $600 a month is for his upgrade. Bottom line, this really isn't a big deal, if he got a 7 series BMW (around $125K for the state police approved model) then I would have issues with it.

As far as getting rid of the old car at 80K milage, thats smart business. You should either get rid of a car before it goes over 100K or drive it into the ground and expect to pay a lot for maintenance once it is over 100K.

I am a conservative, not a big fan of Deval and I think this is really a non issue. It is distracting us from things that really matter like him wanting to give the towns the ability to raise local taxes.

SORRY JK

you must be one of those "conservative" moonbats I've heard about, but never saw!

You may be right about the cop thing, but I was speaking the speak that DTS man
(DevIL tax and spend) was spewing out of the other side of his mouth.

The bottom line is, DTS man rode into that position as a "reformer, a change, and , as I am about to vomit as I type it "yes we can"

Yes we can what? What are you all about?
And it is an issue, for the many people in this state, who haven't tried to sell their home to leave, can't afford a car like that.
And DTS man came about as "a man for the common folk" OH PLEASE SPARE me.

You can't go out and spend that kind of money, and not expect the "common folk" to cry out about it. And My favorite thing is the Moonbat race spin PLEASE SPARE ME that one too

JK you should read Kosh's post, about 0pinions--we all have them, like them or not. Yours is valid, and so is mine

The bottom line, is, we were sold a bill of goods by a very good snake oil salesman

I wish people would stick to the issue vice utilizing the words "pimp" and "trick my ride" it is a subversive way of saying "nigger". He was elected, and already he is a pimp, funny I never heard that when we did not have an African American governor.
