Deval Patrick: Do As I Say, Not As I Do

Now, this is a laugh...

Each year Massachusetts doles out hundreds of millions of dollars in federal low-interest loans to quasi-public development and education financing agencies in a selection process that takes place largely out of public view.

Now the Patrick administration says it wants to open up the process to public scrutiny and is holding what it says is the first-ever public hearing on where the money goes, and how it is spent.

“It’s a huge economic engine that the state is investing in that hasn’t gotten a lot of attention,” Administration and Finance Secretary Leslie Kirwan said in a recent interview with the Associated Press.

Imagine that. Deval wants to open up the process to public scrutiny, just as he has specifically denied similar scrutiny for his own administration.

Not that they admit that there is any hypocrisy:

Kirwan said the distribution of the funds has historically been done largely out of the public eye. She said the decision to hold a public hearing is in keeping with Gov. Deval Patrick’s pledge to encourage more participation by citizens in government. She emphasized that there was no suggestion that funds were missued.

How about participation by the citizens with regards to budget cuts? Why are we being kept in the dark about that?

Oh god, I couldn't stop laughing. So the Rodney Allen Ripney of Massachusetts politics plans on doing this in public view? What’s that mean, a web cast of the thieving houses on midnight benders again? All this dope means is he's going to tell us where the money goes. Any voice of the people as to helping delegate the dollars? Maybe an online poll at mass.gov and the organization with the most votes gets the most money. Does he think doing this will cut down on the pork spending? Of course not. Then the Herald will get ahold of the list that tells us where the money went, public indignation ensues and Governor Gary Coleman just shrugs it off like he did the State Police details. AND he'll be able to point the finger at someone else when the time comes, because he doesn't allot the money. He'll get that puffed up self important hands on both sides of the podium stance and blame the legislature for not cooperating. Then DeMasi & Trav will begin their side of the p*ssing contest and true colors will be shown. Oh my head, it'll be like a bad sitcom.
