When Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly endorsed Deval Patrick after three decades of not endorsing political candidates, it appeared to be motivated more by their desire to defend a fellow lawyer whose work defending convicted rapists and cop killers was being criticized in the media, rather than a real genuine endorsement of Deval Patrick's policies.
Well, it seems like there was another motivating factor... The Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly editorial board has donated nearly $3,000 to Patrick's campaign.
At least six members donated to Patrick, including former Attorney General Scott Harshbarger, who gave $500, and retired Massachusetts Appeals Court Judge Rudolph Kass, who contributed $300. Others include retired Superior Court Judge Suzanne DelVecchio, who gave $500 this month.Only two board members have donated to Kerry Healey.Four other Patrick donors with the same names as board members gave another $500 but neither their occupations nor employers were listed.
